The inauguration of the Project Advisory Committee for the E-Pharmacy for Family Planning (FP) project Funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and spearheaded by a consortium led by the Society for Family Health (SFH), marks a significant milestone in the advancement of accessible healthcare in Nigeria. Held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Radisson Blu in Lagos State, the event brought together esteemed stakeholders from various sectors.
The distinguished body which is led by the Registrar of PCN, Pharm Ibrahim Ahmed FPSN, and supported by the Federal Ministry of Health, Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, and Lagos State Ministry of Health (given the project is being implemented in Lagos State), consist of seasoned Pharma professionals, policy makers, ministries and departments of government, interest groups, professional bodies as well as key subject matter experts within the Pharmaceutical, Reproductive Health and E-health sub- sectors whose overall goal is to steer the project and ensure it remains on track and in line with its strategic objectives.
With ten-man committee fully inaugurated, the project is now equipped with the requisite leadership and guidance to adequately meet the project’s goals and objectives and to usher in a new era of digital health for offering for Family Planning information, products and services. The project’s focus on family planning underscores its commitment to addressing critical healthcare needs. By leveraging digital platforms, the initiative seeks to eliminate barriers to access and streamline the distribution of FP products.
