On the 3rd May, 2024 the Federal Ministry of Health inaugurated the NNPP committee to develop Nigeria’s National Prescription Policy at the HMSHSW conference room in Abuja.
Attendees included Dr. Tunji Alausa @drtunjialausa (Minister of State for Health), Fatima Kyari: Registrar (@officialmdcn) @uchpharma : (Chief of Party of the E-pharma project, Society for Family Health), Hamzat Omotayo (@whonigeria) & other reps from Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria Foundation (PSNF), Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN), @acpnng @acpnnigeria & @nafdac_ng.
Dr. Tunji Alausa highlighted the importance of the NNPP in achieving Universal Health Coverage through rational prescription & dispensation. Our COP @ePharma4FP Dr. Okafor Okafor emphasized the need for guidelines on drug description & dispensation due to the global shift in digitizing health care systems. “An e-prescription policy will enhance data preservation”. The committee’s first meeting is slated for July 2024.
